Prudhoe Castle First School to open new nursery facility

We are delighted to announce that we are supporting Prudhoe Castle First School to help with their renovation work to open new on-site nursery facilities.

As work continues building 404 homes at the nearby Cottier Grange development, we are pleased to have donated £1000 to the school after it reached out to local businesses to share their vision for the future.

Following the closure of a nearby nursery, Prudhoe Castle First School has commenced building work to transform a new nursery and its Early Years Unit. The school will become the only provider in Prudhoe to take children in nursery from the age of two when it opens this September.

Tammy Allen, Head Teacher at Prudhoe Castle First School, said: “We are delighted with the generous donation from Gentoo Homes in order to help us create an outstanding Early Years environment for children in Prudhoe.

“We were able to restructure two of our classrooms to make a new unit which will incorporate our new nursery pupils and our existing Reception class and will help provide a seamless transition for children throughout the school.

“To complete our learning, we are also working to provide an exciting and safe outdoor classroom. We have approached members of our community to help us with any funds which can be contributed towards fencing, landscaping and outdoor facilities and are thankful for any help that has been received.”

Anthony Lowther, Assistant Director of Gentoo Homes, commented on the donation: “We are proud to contribute to the restructuring costs of the school so that the much needed new nursery facilities can be created. Gentoo Homes is a responsible business and it is hugely important for us to support such initiatives in the communities in which we build new homes, especially in Prudhoe where we’ll be working for a number of years.”

Work is well underway transforming the old Prudhoe Hospital site into the new Cottier Grange housing development. Following the opening of our temporary marketing suite at the end of May, twelve homes have been released for sale and have been met with high interest. The on-site sales centre and luxury show village is currently under construction and due to open early autumn.
