The Government scheme Help to Buy is changing as of April 2021.

It will be exclusively available to only first-time buyers on homes under £186,100.

To use the existing scheme, you will need to purchase a property which is built by 28th February 2021 and legally complete on your home by 31st March 2021.

 

What is the Help to Buy equity loan?

The Help to Buy equity loan is a scheme backed by HM Government. It is exclusively available on new build properties up to £600,000 in the UK.

  • It is available to both first-time buyers and existing homeowners
  • You’ll only need a minimum deposit of 5% to purchase your dream home
  • The government will lend you up to 20% of the value of the new home through an equity loan which can be repaid at any time during the loan term or on the sale of your home
  • The loan is interest free for the first 5 years of owning your home
  • You’ll only need to secure up to a 75% mortgage
  • There is a range of competitive mortgage rates available
  • You will own 100% of your home!

How does the loan work?

Whether you are a first time buyer, or an existing home owner looking to move into a new home which provides modern, multi-purpose living space - Help to buy makes it possible.

If your dream home was on the market for £120,000:

You would only need to pay a minimum 5% deposit, could lend up to a £24,000 equity loan from the government which is interest free for 5 years and secure up to a 75% mortgage before the home is yours!
