Construction work at two of our new major housing sites in Sunderland is set to begin, after it was approved by the Gentoo Home's Board.

Work will start at ‘Churchfields’ development in Doxford Park, and at the ‘Chester Gate’ development off A183 Chester Road in Sunderland.

Work on the two schemes was temporarily delayed due to the impact of Coronavirus restrictions, however, we have now been given the go-ahead to progress with the new homes that will be built for sale.

We plan to launch the development for sale pre-Christmas this year, with groundworks works already commenced on both sites.

Vital highway improvement works to the A183 Chester Road have recently been completed by Sunderland City Council, allowing for construction work to begin on the first phase of 118 new homes, comprising of two, three- and four-bedroom properties.

In Doxford Park, the ‘Churchfields’ development will mark the final 100 new homes of our ongoing regeneration project in the area.

Anthony Douglas, Managing Director at Gentoo Homes, said: “We’re excited that construction work can now safely resume on two of our biggest developments in Sunderland. These are two extremely important sites and we are pleased that we have received a lot of interest in both schemes. While it was disappointing to temporarily put construction work on hold, we can now look forward to bringing these new homes to the market in 2021.”

Full details of house styles, prices and estimated completion dates will be made available once Sales Information Centres open on both sites.
