About Us

Gentoo Homes is a proud North East based house builder that has built over 3000 new homes since 2001.

We are a responsible builder that understands housing development isn’t just about constructing modern homes with great specification in desirable locations but creating sustainable homes and establishing new communities.

As part of the Gentoo Group, Gentoo Homes re-invests all profits into supporting the wider Group initiatives. For more information visit Gentoo Groups website.

Gentoo Homes is also a proud supporter of local community projects surrounding our developments.

We are a proud 5-star NHBC accredited housing developer providing a range of high-quality two-bedroom bungalows to five-bedroom luxury homes throughout the region. We provide around 200 homes per year and all of our house styles are thoughtfully designed and based in carefully selected locations. We take pride in every aspect of our work and endeavour to offer all of our customers a home that exceeds their expectations and provides them with the lifestyle they desire.

We know our success is down to our people. Therefore, we offer competitive salaries and an extensive benefits package to ensure that we attract, reward and retain our talented people. This includes a fantastic pension scheme, generous annual leave entitlement and a range of flexible working arrangements. We also like to reward long service and recognise the continued staff contribution through an online employee discount and recognition platform.

We understand the importance of gaining practical experience in the workplace whether that be through an apprenticeship programme or works experience.

We have created 276 apprenticeship opportunities to date, with 90% of our recruits going onto secure a full time, permanent job with us. You will benefit from a combination of hands-on working opportunities and off-site training while studying toward a formal qualification in your chosen career.

Our exciting roles also come with a generous 29 days holiday, excellent terms and conditions and a company pension scheme. Apprenticeship recruitment is reviewed annually, and opportunities will normally be advertised at the beginning of each calendar year.

We also offer work experience where we can assist you in gaining knowledge for your course or qualification. We appreciate and value all applications, however, due to the high demand we are not able to offer everyone a placement, but we do encourage you to keep applying.

Work experience provides many benefits, giving you skills and experience that will allow you to stand out to potential employers as well as helping you choose the right sector to work in.
